Black youth in foster care are some of the most disenfranchised and vulnerable populations in our community. In addition to dealing with the emotional and physical trauma associated with abuse and neglect, these youth are also dealing with the psychological trauma associated with the institutionalized racism that pervades so many of our systems. They need to have advocates who understand this dynamic from personal experience, which is why we need more Black and African-American volunteers, more people of color from our community to speak up for children in foster care.

Since so many youth in our community are online more than ever, especially with a virtual school year, we wanted to share this information from the New Jersey Children's Alliance about online safety. It is critically important that we keep in mind these online safety tips when when our youth are on their computers and devices.

Remember to never give up on your story, and especially a child's story. Make your mark on the world. Make your mark on a child, and live with purpose. #ChangeAChildsStory

Sponsor a Child

You can donate now to provide a CASA Volunteer to a foster child on the waiting list to have a volunteer of their own. Your donation will cover the cost to recruit, train and supervise the volunteer for one year.

A child has rights.
We fight for them.

Abused and neglected children need more than the child welfare system can provide. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children of Ocean County recruits, trains and coaches citizen-volunteers who advocate for abused children in the community and in the courtroom.
